Gym pass or membership transfer guide

Gym

If moving, changing jobs or changing your exercise plans leaves time on a gym membership, you can consider a transfer where the gym permits it.

Check the exact expiry, pause history and entry registration. Lockers and gym clothing may have different terms from the main membership.

When to consider a transfer

Check the terms first in these situations

Moving home or work

Ask whether you can use another branch or change the member name when the original branch becomes hard to visit.

Taking a longer break

If your pause allowance is used up or you cannot attend for a long time, check the remaining usable period before considering transfer.

Unused additional services

Determine whether lockers, clothing, group exercise or personal training are managed separately from gym access.

Refunds and transfers are different processes

A refund is settled by the venue under the contract, taking used services and applicable deductions into account. A transfer changes the holder of the remaining entitlement with the venue's approval.

Compare the refundable amount with transfer fees and any new registration or instructor-change fees. Listing on Today Ticket and the venue's own procedures are separate; confirm each cost before agreeing.

Checks before a transaction

Actual start and end dates

Use the exact end date after pauses and extensions, not just the original number of contract months.

Entry and branch access

Confirm app or face-recognition registration and whether access covers one branch or several.

Lockers and gym clothing

Check each extra's remaining term and whether it passes to the new member.

Transfer and registration fees

Ask about new-card and registration fees as well as transfer fees, and agree who pays before trading.

Buyer and seller precautions

Buyer checks

  • Confirm the actual remaining balance, sessions and expiry with the venue instead of relying only on the seller's screen.
  • Check that access hours, available bookings, instructors and branches suit your plans. Discuss class suitability with the venue.
  • Confirm which extras transfer and the total additional cost. After the name change, check the entitlement under your own member registration.

Seller checks

  • State the verified expiry and remaining quantity, separating the main pass, lessons and additional services. Recheck pending bookings before listing.
  • Disclose instructor, class-level, booking and branch restrictions. Do not promise effects or decide a buyer's health or class suitability for them.
  • Do not hand over your login, access-app account or identity credentials. Use the venue's official member-change procedure.

How to confirm transfer with the venue

  1. 1Give the product name and ask whether another person can receive it and how the buyer registers.
  2. 2Confirm the final expiry and remaining time, credit or sessions, including pauses, extensions and cancellation deductions.
  3. 3Ask about usable branches, instructors, class levels, access hours and booking or cancellation rules.
  4. 4Confirm any joint visit, fees and transferable extras, then record who pays each cost in your agreement.

How to find and list on Today Ticket

Use the Sports category on Home to compare nearby passes, memberships and trial events by location and price.

In Sell, enter the pass type, remaining quantity, expiry and confirmed restrictions. Listing does not replace the venue's approval or name-change process.

Gym transfer FAQs

Who pays the gym transfer fee?

The amount and payer depend on gym rules and your agreement. Confirm the exact charge, then state in chat whether it is included in the sale price.

Does the buyer receive unused pause days?

That depends on gym policy. Confirm the unused allowance and whether the usable period resumes immediately after the name change.

Do lockers and clothing transfer too?

Their terms may differ from the main membership, or they may be excluded. Check each expiry and transfer permission separately and distinguish them in the listing.

How do I confirm access to multiple branches?

Ask the registered branch for the eligible branch list. Check whether a transfer limits you to one branch or adds a charge for other locations.
